M. Julie Clendenden, LPCC, LLC
As the founder and clinical director of Acorn Counseling Center, it is my goal to help hearts, minds, bodies and spirits grow mighty. We all face many challenges in life and it is essential to have deep roots and a strong foundation in order to withstand difficult times.
In addition to providing current therapy technuiques, it has been my long term dream to provide complete holistic health and retreat services. Acorn Counseling Center is truly a blessing and the beginning of bringing this wonderful dream to frutition. It also brings me great pleasure to have a wonderful business partner, Kim Sellers, to share in this new adventure.
As a team, we look forward to the future when we can offer massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture, art therapy classes, dietary counseling, weight managment programs, cooking classes, farm to table programs, life coaching and more. It is my hope to bring quality mental health and complete holisitic health services to individuals, couples, families and business alike.
I worked at Upper Valley Medical Center in the early 90's and for Miami County Abuse Shelter as a therapist and victim advocate until my husband and I moved to Lebanon, Ohio in 1996. In 1997, I began practicing in community mental health in Middletown, OH as a general clinician. I then moved to private practice in Middletown, Ohio. I have also been involved with substitute teaching and school counseling since 2005.
As a clincian and a person, I believe that our behavior is based on our thoughts and feelings. I practice from a mostly Cognitive Behavioral orientation, incorporating our thoughts, feelings motivations, beliefs and behaviors into a therapeutic intervention that helps the client see what change is necessary for them to improve their quality of life. Though it is not necessary, I also work from a faith-based orientation, allowing the client to explore their spirtuaity and utliize it as a tool for their growth and development. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, providing services that span from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of my client's individual needs to help attain the personal growth they are striving for. I believe it is important to look at the whole person and address physical, enviornmental, mental, emotional and spiritual components.
My education has a focus in medicine, nursing, rehabilitation counseling, school counseling and community mental health counseling. My Bachelors of Science degree is from Wright State University and my Masters of Science degree is from the University of Dayton. I also completed my clinical and my school counseling certfication at the University of Dayton. I finished my counseling degree in 1998 and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
